Montana Rains

Montana has always been a place that has fascinated Rachel Brask, and she and her family have taken trips there every few years since childhood. It’s a place that’s also become synonymous to her with memories made with her father, and family. In June 2020, Rachel traveled to Montana for her first solo trip to those old locations, to reconcile past memories while making new ones, and to experience some restorative healing through painting, nature and solitude. These places in Big Sky country started as landscape impressions painted plein-air on location. After returning to her home studio, Brask turned them into full-scale abstracted rainy artworks.
